Nine traps.
There are nine traps in this world that lead straight to the hell known as ‘geekdom’.
Being a young female American in a society obsessed with ‘what’s cool’, I realize that my interests stray from the herd. I like anime, american comic books, literature, rock music, video games, and offbeat movies. I’m grouped with a growing subculture, a population of youths who swarm sites like Deviant Art and Gaia Online, and who watch Adult Swim religiously every night. I’m part of a generation that focuses on the self, a “me” generation that advertises shamelessly on sites like Youtube and Myspace.
So why the hell shouldn’t I get my voice out there?
That’s what this blog is for. To talk about the things that have managed to ‘trap’ me, so to speak, and turn me into what I am today. A certified nerd. There are nine of them. Nine traps to talk about:
